Square Enix’ SaGa franchise is expanding a little bit by way of the publisher releasing two of the games in the series in the US and other western countries. These games will include Romancing SaGa 3 and SaGa Scarlet Grace: Ambitions.

Both games are coming to mobile devices including Android, as well as PS4, Steam, and Nintendo Switch, while Romancing SaGa 3 will also release on Xbox One, PS Vita, and Microsoft’s Windows store.

Romancing SaGa 2 is already available on the Play Store so the third game in the series will be a nice addition to carry on the legacy that the second title left behind. It’s also a fairly expensive mobile title at a cost of $17.99, so there’s a very good chance that Romancing SaGa 3 and SaGa Scarlet Grace: Ambitions will be the same cost.

The good news if this is the case, is that there is also a chance that Square Enix could put some of its games on sale during the initial release of the third Romancing SaGa title as part of a special promotional deal, as publishers will often do this when games are newly released onto Google Play.

Both Romancing SaGa 3 and SaGa Scarlet Grace: Ambitions were officially announced as coming to Android during the Square Enix Live 2019 press conference during E3 on June 10 following additional footage and details of Final Fantasy VII Remake and a host of other games bound for consoles.

Both games are classic RPG titles released years ago by Square and offer up loads of player choice that can affect the way things proceed within the game, with things like branching narratives and in-depth storylines any long-time JRPG fan should be familiar with.

For example certain choices may thrust you into battle while others allow you to bypass it, but you’ll need to choose wisely for any number of reasons. Bypassing battle may be the smartest move if you’re not equipped to handle what comes after the battle begins, but engaging in battle and defeating the enemy may offer you the chance at some great items to use.

One of the bigger features of the game is these branching narratives and player choices as they both promote multiple play throughs, and multiple play throughs afford the user a different experience every single time so you get different perspectives about the story and characters. It’s a really cool way to progress through games that already have rich dialogue.

Square Enix hasn’t mentioned a release date yet for either game, simply that they would be released “soon” and presumably at the same time on all of the platforms that were listed as getting the game.

What would be interesting is if Square Enix decided to launch both games as a bundled 2-in-1 style package as opposed to separate offerings, and that would certainly make them a great value if the price was set at or around the same cost of some of the company’s other high-profile mobile ports.

In addition to announcing these two mobile games during its press conference, Square Enix also officially announced Marvel’s Avengers, which is due to release next year on May 15 and will be one of the titles coming to Stadia.
